The Peruvian Amazon is one of the areas with the greatest biodiversity of flora and fauna on the planet, as well as the Peruvian biogeographic region with the smallest human population. Despite having the lowest population density in the country, it is also the most anthropologically diverse. Most of the country’s ethnic groups settle there and the indigenous languages of Peru are spoken there.

Most of Peru’s territory is covered by the dense Amazon rainforest. According to the research institute of the Peruvian Amazon,

In Peru, all the territories located to the east of the Andes Mountains, which include the tropical forest, are called Amazonia, and hydrographically all rivers are tributaries of the Amazon River basin.

It is an enormous geological depression dominated by large plains, mountains, small mountain areas, and floodable territories during river flooding. Locally some call it “mountain”, Amazon rainforest or jungle.

Historically it is associated with the myth or legend of El Dorado and the Country of Cinnamon and at the beginning of the 20th century with the rubber era.

In the Amazon jungle of Peru there are many protected natural areas and one of them is the Manu National Park, which has an area of 1,909,806 ha, it is divided into 3 large zones: the national park with 1,716,295 ha, the reserved and buffer zone
