Detailed tour itinerary:

TOUR DAY 01: Iquitos City – Amazon River – Cumaceba Amazon lodge.

Reception at the airport in the city of Iquitos by a representative of our travel agency. Then we will introduce you to our professional jungle guide with whom we will do all the excursions during our stay. Introduction to the Iquitos Amazon jungle tour.

Brief pedestrian city tour depending on the arrival time. Transfer to our private pier to board our fast boat. If your trip is in the months of November to July we can visit the floating houses.

Then we will begin our adventure in the Peruvian Amazon. We will sail in our boat for an average of approximately 2 hours until we reach our tourist lodge in Cumaceba located on the banks of the Amazon River. During the boat trip we will be able to observe different communities or hamlets of the Amazonian people and some very colorful birds such as parrots and macaws.

Once we arrive at our lodge we will offer you a typical jungle drink and we will deliver you to the rooms or private cabins with all the services available. After a short break we will take a tour of the lodge facilities which is very interesting. Later we will take a walk through the primary forest getting to know the flora and fauna of the area. Returning from the walk we will enjoy a typical lunch (self-service).

In the afternoon we will take a tour of the Amazon River to look for the gray and pink river dolphins and other animals that are a must see such as parrots, macaws, monkeys, etc.

Then we will visit a riverside family where they preserve some species of animals such as anacondas, sloths, turtles, among others.

We will also be able to enjoy some typical aphrodisiac drinks with medicinal power. Sunset over the Amazon River. Night walk to see insects, amphibians, tarantulas, alligators, snakes, etc. Dinner at the lodge and rest.

TOUR DAY 02: Rainforest – Cumaceba Amazon Lodge.

This day we will have a morning excursion and bird watching in their natural habitat such as the legendary Shansho – Hoatzin, known as the prehistoric bird. Breakfast. Then we will visit the native group of Yagua and learn about their typical clothing, dialect, way of life and daily activity.

Demonstration with the blowgun or pucuna the way to hunt birds and small monkeys for food. Participation of the tourists in one of their daily activities. Return to the Lodge for a typical buffet lunch.

After lunch we will take a walk inside the jungle and in a river inside the jungle we will do recreational fishing for piranhas and other fish and if we catch a good fish we will enjoy our dinner.

At night a boat ride on the Amazon River in search of alligators and boas listening to the sounds of the humid tropical forest. Dinner at our lodge and rest in our super comfortable lodge.

TOUR DAY 03: Cumaceba Amazon Lodge – Rainforest – Paiches Nursery.

The howler monkey will wake us up this morning with a loud cry as the start of a new day. Before the sun comes up we will go to the banks of the Amazon River to appreciate the sunrise which is a wonderful spectacle. We will also be able to observe different species of birds on Padre Island.

Then we will use a canoe to enter a small lake where we will be able to appreciate the floating plant known as the Victoria Regia, the largest aquatic plant in the world.

After the ride we will return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious breakfast. Then we will have a tour of the Amazon River to look for alligators and different Amazonian animals such as the anaconda and boa constrictors.

Visit a riverside family where they preserve some species of animals such as anacondas, sloths, turtles, monkeys, parrots among others. Typical aphrodisiac drinks with medicinal power.

Return to the lodge for lunch. Relax at the lodge in hammocks. In the afternoon we will have a tour of the Amazon River and observe the largest freshwater fish ARAPAIMA GIGAS – PAICHE. This fish can grow up to more than 2 meters in length.

Then we will visit the small town, learning about part of its daily activities. Return to Cumaceba Amazon Lodge. Canoe tour through a tributary, special for photographing. Dinner. Night at the Lodge.

TOUR DAY 04: Lodge – Recreational fishing – City of Iquitos.

Breakfast at the lodge and then we will take a walk through the jungle to see some monkeys and a large number of birds such as red and yellow parrots.

Then we return to the lodge to enjoy the stay and our typical lunch. After lunch, a short walk through the lodge’s garden to observe different species of hummingbirds and birds welcome you. 3:00 pm Time to return to the city of Iquitos, return transfer to the hotel or airport in the city.
