The Chonta and Salkantay Condor Flight Tour is one of the most complete hikes that exists to reach Machu Picchu. Throughout this trip we will have the opportunity to visit the Apurimac canyon, habitat of the Andean condor, where we will be able to enjoy a majestic flight of the condors in their natural habitat.
We will also be able to visit the Humantay Lagoon, which is called the most fantastic and beautiful in the Cusco region. Continuing our trip to Machu Picchu we will walk through the impressive snow-covered mountains (snow-capped mountains in Salkantay and snow-capped mountains in Lake Humantay), we will cross rivers and waterfalls with crystal-clear waters and subtropical areas of the Amazon jungle full of vegetation and fauna.
The route to the Salkantay trek is the most important alternative Inca trail that exists in Cusco and in Latin America. Our camps are located in quiet and perfect places and very comfortable. On the last day we will visit the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu where our guide will take us to the top of the mountain. A professional will explain to us step by step about the importance of Machu Picchu and its different spaces that this wonder of the world has. In the afternoon we will return by train to the city of Cusco.

Chonta Flight of the Condor – Salkantay Trek Machu Picchu 6 days
DETAILED ITINERARY:
Day 01: Cusco – Flight of the Condor Chonta – Huaychaou Camp (3000 masl)
08:00 AM pick up from your hotel in our own vehicle and then we will start the trip and we will pass through beautiful landscapes of this natural paradise of the Andes, throughout our trip we will stop at important points such as the archaeological zone of Killarumiyoc which is the temple of the moon and fertility, continuing the trip through spectacular valleys and different Andean towns until we reach the Huaychao farm where we can visit the fruit cultivation and plantation of Paltos (avocados),
In this place we will enjoy our delicious lunch, In the afternoon we will take a walk of approximately one hour until we reach the viewpoint of the condor which is located in the Apurimac canyon at an altitude of 3350 masl., In this we will have enough time to appreciate the Apurimac canyon and observe the majestic flight of the Andean condors in their natural habitat. The Andean condor is the largest bird on earth that can fly over 8,000 meters above sea level, and was the sacred bird of the Inca culture.
Later we will continue the trip until we reach the private camp where we will spend the night in super comfortable tents. At night we will make an outdoor bonfire and prepare a grill for meat lovers. Optional adventure sport activity, ZIP LINE AND TIBETAN BRIDGE.
DAY 02: Camp – Mollepata – Humantay Lagoon – Soraypampa (3850m)
06:00 am breakfast at the camp then we will start the adventure sport, descent by bicycles on an unpaved road for an average of 1 hour approximately, Then we will continue the trip in our mobility to Cruz pata starting point of the walk, Here we will meet our muleteers who will accompany us during the course of the following days transporting all the camping equipment, Our first walk will be for an average of 2 hours until we reach Soraypampa where we will enjoy our typical lunch, In the afternoon we will make a walk of approximately 1 hour to visit the famous Humantay lagoon that has a spectacular color of turquoise blue, After taking all the necessary photos we will continue the walk of 45 more minutes and we will arrive at the camp located at the foot of the snowy Salkantay, (Night in super comfortable tents).
DAY 03: Soraypampa Camp – Salkantay Snowcapped Mountain – Chaullay Camp (2900m)
Very early after our delicious breakfast we will prepare to undertake the most difficult hike of the trip. The first 3 hours of hiking are pure ascent to the pass of the Salkantay snowcapped mountain which is at an altitude of 4650 meters above sea level. In this place we will observe the 2 snowcapped mountains, the majestic Salkantay and the Humantay snowcapped mountains and the magnificent view of the falling snow avalanches. After a good rest we will begin to descend to Ppuyupata where we will enjoy our lunch. Then we will continue the descent through the jungle edge until we reach the Chaullay camp which is at 2900 meters above sea level.
DAY 04: Chaullay Camp – Sahuayaco Beach – Santa Teresa (2350m)
6:00 am breakfast at the camp then we will begin the hike that will be wonderful and unforgettable. We will walk along a path full of flora that resembles the Amazon jungle (high jungle), we will be able to see different crops of jungle products and fruit plantations such as banana, papaya, passion fruit, coffee and cocoa, we will also be able to see some birds and with luck we can see the cock of the rocks which is the national bird of Peru. Lunch at Sahuayaco beach. Then we will continue our hike until we reach the Santa Teresa camp.
In the afternoon you will have time to walk through the town of Santa Teresa and if you wish you can go to the Colcamayo hot springs which is a spectacular place to relax and bathe with crystal clear and super hot water.
DAY 05: Santa Teresa Camp – Hidroeléctrica – Aguas Calientes Town (Hotel)
After breakfast we will prepare for the next hike, which is the easiest of the previous days. Optional adventure activity, zip line. The zip line consists of flying from mountain to mountain through a metal cable.
The hike from Santa Teresa to Hidroeléctrica is an average of 3 hours with some stops to take photos at the beautiful waterfalls and the Vilcanota River. Lunch at Hidroeléctrica. In the afternoon we will continue the hike for approximately 2 hours until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes.
Tonight we will sleep in a comfortable hotel, in double and triple rooms with private bathrooms and showers. The hotel will have a wifi signal, etc.
DAY 06: Hotel – Machu Picchu – Cusco
The most important day of the trip has arrived. At 4:00 am we will begin the hike to Machu Picchu. We will leave the hotel very early to arrive early to Machu Picchu and enjoy the sunrise, which is a unique spectacle that can be seen in this Machu Picchu sanctuary, and take the best photos without the presence of other people. Then we will visit the entire Machu Picchu circuit step by step and we will take the best photos at the key points of this wonderful Inca sanctuary. After visiting Machu Picchu we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes for lunch and in the afternoon we will take the train that will bring us to the town of Ollantaytambo and then by car to the city of Cusco.
