INCA JUNGLE ROUTE TO MACHU PICCHU 4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS

DETAILED TOUR ITINERARY:

DAY 01: CUSCO – ABRA MALAGA – SANTA MARIA 1450 masl (Bicycle 55km – canoeing – rafting)

We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 am in our private vehicle and then we will travel for an average of approximately 3 hours to Abra Málaga (4,350 masl) starting point of our bicycle tour. After a brief explanation by our professional guide we will give you the complete equipment for this type of activity, helmets, vests, knee pads and gloves. We will begin the descent by bike for approximately 3 hours with stops at key points to take photos and have an explanation from our guide, continuing the descent by bike to the town of Santa María (end of the bikes), During the trip we will enjoy the natural beauty of the mountains covered by snow and finally through the high jungle, changing quickly from a dry and cold climate to a humid and hot climate. Once we arrive at Santa María we go to our ecological and typical lodging where we will spend the first night, Lunch at the lodging, After a short rest we will prepare for our next adventure activity which is canoeing on the upper Urubamba River, This activity will be for an average of 1 hour and 30 minutes approximately in a level 2 and level 3 river, After this activity we will return to our ecological lodging.

DAY 02: SANTA MARIA – SANTA TERESA 1800 masl (TREKKING 23 KM)

After a rich and nutritious breakfast we will prepare for a walk of approximately 7 hours to Santa Teresa, the departure time of our walk will be at approximately 7:00 am. The first two hours of our journey will be uphill along an original Inca trail, along the way we will have several stops to appreciate the natural wealth of flora and fauna of the area. One of them will be at a local family’s house where we will be able to see different fruit crops such as coffee, cocoa, bananas, pineapple and coca plantations (sacred plant of the Incas). Continuing along the Inca trail that once connected the sacred city of Machu Picchu with the fortress of Vilcabamba which is further back in the jungle where our guide will explain with great feeling about the history of the Incas and the communication system they had at that time. In the afternoon we will arrive at the Cocalmayo hot springs and those who wish can enjoy the tranquility and relax in the thermal medicinal waters.

DAY 03: SANTA TERESA – ZIPLINE – AGUAS CALIENTES. (Machu Pichu Village)

At approximately 7:00 am after breakfast we will go in our private vehicle to the area where we will do the zip line. We will fly from hill to hill on metal cables which are 500 to 600 meters high and 800 to 1000 meters long. In total there are 4 cables with different speeds and in different spaces. Then we will begin the walk towards the hydroelectric plant and along this walk we will pass some rivers and waterfalls that come down from the snow-capped mountains of Veronica and Salkantay and we will stop at a coffee farm where we will learn about the coffee process and if you wish you can have a natural and organic coffee. We can also prepare a delicious chocolate from an organic cocoa. On this journey we will see different native plants of the jungle and we will also have the opportunity to see in the distance the majestic mountains Machu Picchu and Hayna Picchu as well as the Intihuatana or solar clock and other constructions of the citadel. Inca of Machu Picchu, This walk lasts 2 to 3 hours along the railway line to the town of Aguas Calientes where we will spend our third night in a tourist hotel with all services included.

DAY 04: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – OLLANTAYTAMBO – CUSCO

This day we will arrive at one of the 7 wonders of the world Machu Picchu. The tour starts very early to be able to appreciate the sunrise at the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. We will leave our hotel at 4:30 am to begin our last walk along the original Inca trail bordering a mountain full of original trees of the cloud forest (high jungle). This walk will be for an average of approximately 01 hour and 30 minutes to the door of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.

NOTE: People who do not wish to do this walk have the option of taking the first bus up that costs $12.00 and this bus trip lasts approx. 30 minutes, Once we arrive at the gate of Machu Picchu we will meet with all the people in the group and then we will begin the tour with our guide through one of the established circuits. The visit lasts an average of 03 hours through the most important places of this Inca city, then you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own and perhaps climb Huaynapicchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (prior reservation of the entrance ticket two months in advance, plus additional payment for the ticket, there are only 400 spaces per day). Later we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes to have lunch and wait for our return train to Ollantaytambo and then by bus to the city of Cusco.

Return time to the city of Cusco at approximately 8:00 p.m.
