DETAILED ITINERARY OF THE TREKKING:
DAY 01: Cusco – KM 82 – Patallaqta – Huayllabamba (3000m)
In the morning we will pick you up from your hotel and then we will travel in our private car for approximately 2 hours to the starting point of our hike (PISCACUCHO) which is located at kilometer 82 (2800masl). Before starting the walk, our professional guide will introduce us to our personal team who will be in charge of carrying all the necessary equipment for the 4-day trek, then we will prepare our backpacks and we will begin the walk on the relatively flat part of the Camino route. Inca. This day we will walk approximately 5 hours to our first camp located in the Huayllabamba sector at 3000 meters above sea level.
After 2 hours of walking we will arrive at the first archaeological center of PATALLACTA, where we will be able to appreciate the wonderful constructions surrounded by beautiful landscapes and we will learn the history of each archaeological site. During the walk we will also be able to see a wide variety of species of flora and fauna original to The Andes. Along the way we will enjoy the beautiful valley in the context of the history of the Incas. We will have lunch along the way. After lunch we will continue ascending to a semi-tropical valley and we will walk for 3 hours until we reach HUAYLLABAMBA 3000 meters above sea level where we will spend the night in our super comfortable tents.
Note: This first day is generally hot during the dry season (May to October), therefore it is recommended to wear light clothing, as well as a good sunscreen and a good hat or cap.
DAY 02: Huayllabamba – Abra Warmiwañusca – Pacaymayo
Our breakfast will be very early. Then we will begin our walk through the Huayllabamba valley passing through different climatic and ecological zones. We will ascend to the highest area of the trek known as WARMIWAÑUSCA, 4400 meters above sea level. In fact, this section of the road is the strongest for all travelers but the path is fantastic, with each step you can see abundant vegetation with many types of trees and flowers in the area, with luck it is possible to see different types of birds and some deer and viscachas.
After a good rest at the highest part of the trip we will enjoy our delicious and energetic lunch. After lunch we will continue our pure descent hike to PACAYMAYO 3500 meters above sea level where we will spend the second night in our super comfortable camp.
DAY 03: Pacaymayo – Sayac Marka – Wiñayhuayna (2600m)
For many visitors this day is the longest but at the same time one of the most beautiful due to the presence of Inca constructions along the way.
After a nutritious breakfast we will continue our walk to the archaeological site of Runkuracay 3,800 meters above sea level. The semicircular shape of this construction was to protect itself from the strong winds in the area. Then we go up to Lake Yanacocha and after some photos we continue until we reach the archaeological zone of Sayacmarca (3,600 m), where we will see interesting Inca constructions and have a panoramic view of the Acobamba Valley.
Then we continue uphill and we will reach the first tunnel and the archaeological zone of Phuyupatamarca (3,665m), “Town above the clouds” which is undoubtedly one of the most preserved constructions that can be seen on this route, original constructions found in the edge of a ravine and has many cultivation terraces and ceremonial fountains.
After visiting this archaeological site we descend for an average of 1 hour to Wiñaywayna (2,700m), which means “Always Young”, the name derives thanks to the typical Orchids that can be found throughout the year with their red flowers, yellow. and purple. This archaeological zone is possibly the most attractive of all the Inca palaces along the entire trip and the last urban center before reaching Machupicchu. It was built on the slopes of the mountains, it was divided into four main parts, an urban sector with more than 20 buildings, ritual fountains, agricultural terraces and the tower area.
After exploring every corner of Wiñaywayna, we go to our last camp, which is located a few meters away. In this last camp, hikers will have access to better showers and bathrooms. This is the night when we say goodbye to our team of porters or staff who carry our equipment, at night we organize a small sharing to thank everyone for sharing with the group in this beautiful experience.
DAY 04: Wiñayhuayna – Machupicchu – Cusco
Today is our last day of our adventure. We will leave our camp very early and walk a relatively flat path for approximately 1 hour and a half to INTIPUNKU (the gate of the sun). After three days of walking you will see the majestic Inca city through the rectangular Gate, which is called the solar gate and finally take the first views of the lost city of the Incas, seventh wonder of the world (MACHUPICCHU), From there we will descend to the citadel to visit and tour all the most important sectors such as the INTI WATANA, TEMPLE OF THE SUN, TEMPLE OF THE CONDOR, SOLAR DIAL ETC. This visit will last an average of 3 hours where our guide will explain step by step about the importance of the Inca citadel of Machupicchu.
After the guided tour you will have free time to explore the Machu Picchu citadel on your own before leaving. Later after visiting Machupicchu we will continue to Aguas Calientes where you can enjoy your lunch and wait for the train to return to Ollantaytambo and then by bus to the city of Cusco (hotel.
