HEALTH AND CLIMATE PRECAUTIONS
Before traveling to Peru, consult with your doctor. If you plan to trek in Cusco you have to be physically prepared, or you want to travel to the jungle such as the Manu Reserve, or Tambopata you will need the yellow fever vaccine. Malaria cases have not been recorded in this area so precautions to take are optional. It is important to remember that the excursions take you to the remote and inhabited Amazon plain so you must be prepared to give up the comforts of home.
The Amazon reserve of Manu and Tambopata has a wide range of climates, from the cold and dry Andes to the humid and warm lowland jungle. During the year there are two well-marked seasons. The rainy season from January to April, when the rains are greatest. And the dry season from May to December, when the temperature decreases and the rains decrease. River precipitation in the Amazon plain is approximately 2,500 to 4,000 mm annually.
