Tour to Choquequirao trek
Tour to Choquequirao trekking
The Choquequirao sanctuary was the city where the Incas took refuge from the year 1536. This sanctuary is located in the Vilcabamba Valley at 3300 meters above sea level. This archaeological center is considered as important as Machu Picchu. The trip begins in the city of Cusco and you travel by car to the Capuliyoc sector where the 32 km road to Choquequirao begins. The walk is regularly tough so it is recommended to be in good physical condition. The first part of the road is pure descent to the depth of the Apurimac canyon and then the road is pure ascent to the Maranpata sector and then a horizontal path to the Choquequirao sanctuary. The road offers impressive landscapes where you can appreciate the flora and fauna of the Apurimac Canyon considered the deepest in South America and probably the world, the “Cradle of Gold” of the Incas (Choquequirao).
