Tour Machupicchu by Car

Travel to Machu Picchu by car without using the train

Machu Picchu means old mountain in the Quechua language. One of the jewels of Inca architecture, it is one of the wonders of the world. Its prodigious character expresses the constructive talent of man in harmonious conjunction with the imposing landscape, and precisely for this reason, UNESCO has declared Machu Picchu a World Heritage Site, due to its dual status as a cultural and natural exponent. Later, in an international competition, Machu Picchu was included in the list of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

The discoverer of Machu Picchu was Hiram Bingham in 1911. This character was a historian and professor at Yale University. He arrived in Peru in 1905 or so in search of the legendary Inca city of Vilcabamba. It was here that Manco Inca confronted the Spanish in 1537, swearing to expel the Spanish invaders. Before heading to Vilcabamba, Hiram Bingham obtained news about Machu Picchu in Cusco. People said it was near Mandorbamba, a place he would necessarily pass through when he had to go to Vilcabamba. He then decided to visit the site following the advice he had received. He arrived in Mandorbamba and contacted Melchor Arteaga, who confirmed the magnitude of the ruins. Hiram Bingham was dazzled and asked to be taken there. They crossed an improvised bridge over the Urubamba River and climbed the steep stairs covered with dense vegetation that separate Mandorbamba from Machu Picchu. Once he arrived, Bingham deduced that it could not be the legendary city of Vilcabamba that he was looking for and was surprised to discover an Inca city that was 95% original and that had not been discovered by the Spanish. After doing some excavations and taking some photos, Hiram Bingham continued on his way to fulfill the goal he had set for himself to visit Vilcabamba. Hiram Bingham is the scientific discoverer of Machu Picchu but not the first person to visit this Inca citadel that the first discoverers did not make known to the world due to lack of money.
